Аннотация

Evidentiality refers to the linguistic encoding of the source and reliability of information. This study investigates the historical development and functional diversity of evidential markers in the Uzbek language, drawing comparisons with other Turkic languages such as Turkish, Kazakh, and Tuvan. By analyzing morphological, syntactic, and lexical structures, the article demonstrates how evidentiality in Uzbek evolved from ancient Turkic roots to its current usage in media, education, and political discourse. Despite not being a fully grammaticalized system, Uzbek employs a variety of evidential strategies to express inferential, reported, and experiential knowledge. This research highlights Uzbek’s unique place within the typology of evidential systems and its implications for Turkic linguistics and discourse practices.
